Case study: FreightON as a tool to develop relationships with trusted carriers
FreightON Private Freight Exchange has become a way to effectively communicate and deepen cooperation with 2,000 carefully vetted carriers.
About the company
Forwarding and transport company Found Solution specialises in express shipments. It focuses on serving customers in manufacturing, e-commerce and airports. It transports goods mainly to and from Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. It has 3 branches in Poland. It has its own small fleet, but is relying mainly on reliable carriers with whom it has built lasting relationships.
The challenge
Cooperation with regular carriers is a priority.
Found Solution specialises in time-critical transports and these account for the majority of the orders carried out. Consequently, the speed of finding a carrier is crucial.
However, in line with the company’s motto ‘Your transport – our concern’, it can’t be a random carrier. In order to ensure the safety of cargo and to be able to fulfil even the most demanding orders, their freight forwarders work with trusted subcontractors on a daily basis. The company has a total of more than two thousand such carriers, but each forwarder has its own database of contacts.
Communicating with such a large number of carriers via traditional methods – phone, email or SMS – is extremely time-consuming. Therefore, there was a need to create a single, central database of subcontractors and divide them into groups according to specific profiles, which would facilitate contact and increase its efficiency, while not adversely affecting the relationships built.
Implemented solutions
As part of FreightON, Found Solution has created four separate Private Freight Exchanges tailored to the specific types of vehicles and value of goods transported.
For example, carriers operating vans have been added to one exchange and transport companies with trucks to another.
As a result, trusted carriers, within Found Solution’s Private Exchange, only receive loads that are tailored to their fleet and capabilities, and in which they may be genuinely interested. Consequently, they do not have to waste time browsing through multiple offers, and shippers are assured that their loads go to the right people.
The company has added to the Private Freight Exchange only carriers that meet the following criteria:
- have insurance of at least €200,000 per single event,
- have been operating in the market for a minimum of 2 years,
- do not have gross negligence clauses in their contracts,
- have transported a minimum of 5 freights with Found Solution with no delays in transport or document submission.
The results
The key to the high performance of Found Solution’s Private Freight Exchange is adding vetted carriers to one of the company’s four Private Freight Exchanges. This ensures that their subcontractors only receive quotes that fit their profile and know that each one is worth looking into.
As a result, the average response rate of carriers on all four private exchanges in 2024 (January-July) was 56%, with one exchange reaching even 67%.
In addition, Found Solution sees the publications on the Private Freight Exchange as a way of promoting its offers and the company to carriers, and strengthening good relations with them.
At the same time, moving the vast majority of the communication with carriers onto one platform is a major convenience for forwarders.
